I love this place! We stopped here on the way to visit friends. I am so glad we did.

We arrived on the perfect day. The second Saturday of every month they have a reenactment. The volunteers dress in period costume and demonstrate many aspects of life in the time period. George Washington makes an appearance and I think there is a parade.

We had a wonderful time and learned a lot. I would recommend this stop for anyone of any age. We lucked out and met a historian from the project who explained some very neat facts about the buildings, the grounds, the project timeline and scope… lots of great stuff happening here.

Wonderful walk around the grounds — I particularly liked the redoubts. I love getting to visit this historic site. They have made a number of nice changes to the site, it is well-maintained, and the gift shop is really nice. I would certainly recommend visiting went in the area. This is one of our favorite hiking spots! The 2. It feels like an adventure but also quite safe and clean. We also picnicked in one of the many, shady spots by the lodge.

After lunch we were a bit more adventurous with off boardwalk trails. We availed ourselves of the gift shop for a few items. We also picked up our junior ranger books, completed the activities during our adventures, and were then sworn in as junior rangers! We will return as soon as we are able!

It is a little more than 2 hours each way for us and totally worth it!! The park was so popular on the weekends, which included volunteers led programs. The ranger led programs are more concentrated during the peak season. The center was partially closed, mostly educational sections, however, they have a lot of stuff for purchasing and for sales. You could tell that this park is very new and geared towards urban people.

I recommend to come for the firefly season. Would love to do kayaking programs with the rangers in this park too. But it’s super popular and hard for accessibility.

Took my sisters here for their first hike and their first National Park trip, and they had an absolute blast. The rangers were super kind and helpful, the hikes we found were easy to follow especially for first-timers , and the place is absolutely gorgeous. Would definitely recommend for camping as well. It is safe to say that I have successfully recruited them into the world of collecting National Park cancellation stamps, and it’s largely due to the great time exploring this awesome park.

Such a beautiful place for a peaceful, relaxing Mother’s Day! We love exploring our state parks and this was our first time to this one. They have plenty of picnic tables and adirondack chairs by the lake, as well as several picnic shelters throughout the park. One of the picnic shelters was near where we settled by the lake for the afternoon, close to a nice, large grassy area for playing and playground equipment for younger children.

We didn’t hike any of the trails on this visit but they have several ranging from 0. My daughter and I enjoyed some canoeing – got pretty close to an egret, just missed a turtle, and thankfully did not encounter any gators. Although, we were told by the ranger that they are more scared of us than we are of them.

Local treasure! Well maintained and clean. My family visited for the first time yesterday. The lake, creeks and babbling streams were absolutely beautiful. Great picnic areas and plenty of options for family fun with cabin rentals, playground, paddle boats, canoes, etc. Plenty of space for frisbee or other backyard sporting options.

Our dog loved it. Parking lot is right beside the picnic area so it’s very convenient to get supplies. We loved our RV camping experience at Poinsett!! Lots of hills for people in search of more challenging trails. The staff are all very friendly and the campgrounds are well maintained.

Perfect family fun!!! City park. Nice surprise. Lots of swans, large area with bridges. Beautiful place, great for walking. Lots of benches. I would go early summer, I’m sure it has to get humid and steamy in summer. Nicely kept. Very beautiful all year round!!! Around Christmas time they have the park decorated with lights and a free drive thru light display! Definitely worth visiting if you come to Sumter! Beautifully designed and lovingly maintained, and just the amount of surreal I like. One of those places which catches you by surprise with how well it naturally fits into the landscape even as it defies nature. It’s amazing what one person with a passion can do. We were so impressed by the imagination and detail in the topiary and the water sculptures. Unfortunately it was drizzling that day do they weren’t on, but they must be even more amazing.

We were pleasantly surprised to find a restroom for visitors and a large parking area. A beautiful stop. The shrubbery is stunning. In addition to the beautiful topiary garden there are also a lot of beautiful art pieces. Why would I really enjoyed visiting this place. Lots of bridges where you get to walk through nature. Great places to take pictures.

We went awesome people jogging and exercising in this natural place. Quiet and peaceful as well. I loved this garden. The azaleas were blooming and some camellias. The trails were a little challenging for my companions, but beautiful and peaceful.

I had no problem avoiding the roots and navigating the slopes. The boardwalk through the cypress groves was awesome. A really wonderful experience. This place is really beautiful in full bloom. Everywhere you looked was worth another photo. The trails were enjoyable and not too strenuous.

I would have liked the trails to have been marked better with “You Are Here” type maps so you didn’t feel lost. I would definitely pick up a map at the entrance so you can find your way.

There was one section where the boardwalk is rotting and needs to be replaced. It looked like at one point it was taped off but someone had removed that. I really enjoyed the peacefulness of it. It isn’t so remote that you don’t hear traffic but you can enjoy hearing all the birds singing. Outdoor Activities. The state park was very pretty. Most pine cones on the ground I’ve seen in my whole life.

Also, first time I saw the fox squirrel. Very nice facilities. Lots of outdoor eating by the lake and swimming area. This was a great place to stop as we were road tripping for a beautiful break.

Way better than we even thought it would be! The lake is much bigger than it looks on the map. The road to the nature trail could use some work, but otherwise a really good park.

Make sure you bring leveling blocks if you bring your RV. Sites aren’t the most level. Such a beautiful Park with plenty of wildlife birds chirping around all day. You’re able to rent boats or kayaks and go on the lake and some some fishing. Easily one of the nicest park in South Carolina I’ve been to. Car racing track. This weekend was a birthday present from my wife, taking in all three races here was so much fun. We were upper level in Pearson tower for the cup race. Where we were you can take in the entire track.

It is awesome!!! The ease of access in and out of general parking was a big plus. Leaving the cup race you expect to sit. Local police and highway patrol made getting to the highway very smooth. Free golf cart service was available to get us from the facility to our vehicle and back. We took in three great races and sat next to some really fun fans. Great racetrack for the fan that does want to miss a second of the action.

There were fewer cars and exhibits than I was expecting, but was interesting. I particularly enjoyed seeing the early model cars. Entry was also quick and they actually had security. They had our tee shirts ready at Will Call. Pearson Tower has great views. All of this outweighs the cons.

Cons: People being allowed to solicit donations and sell stuff in the parking lot. They needed to spread out the portable toilets more. The Jumbotron needs to be moved closer to the stands. I had to use binoculars to see it.

Concessions are insanely expensive. Moving and beautiful tribute to our veterans. My husband and I stumbled upon this on a night walk with our dog since we were just passing through and staying at a local hotel. It is beautifully maintained and we walked back the next morning to see it in the daylight. It’s a perfect place for a quiet walk or reflection and it does a wonderful job at remembering those lost fighting for our country and the families they left behind. Beautiful relaxing place in Florence.

Very peaceful area just away from the busy mall area. Love coming to sit here or take a walk on nice days. Also easily accessible to a walking trail. We were driving through on Interstate and needed a picnic spot for the family to eat our fast food.

This park was a beautiful option. It is well maintained, has a nice combination of grassy areas and walking paths. It is well labeled to explain the monuments which sparked some great conversation with the kids. Note it’s behind the arena. Keep on coming back to this wonderland. I Love it and my grandchildren do too.

Love the Dog run by the Public restrooms. My dog enjoyed the freedom it had being able to drink water and do his business with out a leash. Public restrooms are cleaner than most establishments we visited. The attendant was very helpful, knowledgeable, and Super Sweet.

South of the Border is a Gem. It offers the little things that makes your life a little easier when traveling. This stop excels where others fail. Hope you enjoy it, as we did. Blessings to All. Stay safe. It is not new, nor fancy, but it clean, a reasonable rate, there is plenty to do.

The staff was great. The restaurant food, I was only to one location and had a cheeseburger, was cheaper grade. The hamburger patty was one of those patties that was made with every part of the cow, and was small.

Again, even in the restaurant, the staff was great. I would definitely stay there a again, but next time I will bring a coffee maker. Place was spacious, nice and clean. The TV was kinda small for the size of the room. They advertise a heated pool but the pool was cold so we didn’t spend about 5 minutes in it. If you go after 6 pm every thing was closed except a place that served a little bit of food. If we would have known that there was a Waffle House on the other side of the interstate we would have gone there instead.
