H&R Block Vs. Turbo Tax

H&R Block Vs. Turbo Tax

Hi all! This is my review of the two most popular tax software, H&R Block online software and Turbo Tax. I have been doing my own taxes since I was 18, so I grew up with tax software. I have consistently used both, and my view is that Turbo Tax offers way more benefits than H&R Block, so that is now my exclusive choice. Of course, this will never take the place of a qualified CPA, but if you want to do your own taxes, here are my recommendations. Enjoy!

I’ve been using “H&R Block” tax software since 1994. Of course back then
H&R Blocks name wasn’t prominent on the software package and was simply
called TAXCUT. But that still it 20 years of software development. And
yes Turbo Tax is 3 years older beginning in 1991 but I always viewed them
as JUST a software company and not having the expertise of a H&R Block
parent. Just my 2 cents worth. 🙂

Very insightful vid. I would love to do my own taxes with Turbo Tax, but
never mind not having the time to do it, I’m afraid that I’ll miss out on a
deduction here or a write-off there. I’m curious, how was your
experience preparing your taxes during your period of foreclosure? Also,
what was the experience like, transitioning from just doing only your own
taxes to doing yours and your LLCs taxes as well?

coolio! Would you form a LLC for one property if it is already owned?

See here is the problem, you use 2 different software and get 2 different
bottom lines. People expect the software to know what they are doing, but
unless you know some tax laws you can get 2 different answers. Don’t blame
the software because you don’t know how to use it! The software is a guide,
you have to know what and where to input the correct info. If you received
a 500.00 to 600.00 difference, then it was not the software, it was
operator . Every year there are hundreds of tax law changes, so saying once
you get the basics there isn’t much to learn is bad advice. I find people
have cheated them self every year by not knowing what they can and can’t
    claim.

Tax software is only as good as the person’s knowledge using it. I often
get numerous Turbo Tax returns in my office that was blatantly breaking the
tax code by taking deductions not allowed or just people leaving out things
because they did not now where or what to do. There is not substitution
for the advice of a professional. Be it an accountant, enrolled agent, tax
attorney, or season tax professional. What they can also do is advise and
direct you for tax planning or assist you if you get audited. No software
can compare to that. My Motto, “Cheap is Expensive.”

to HR BLOCK and do it through them to see which I get more or do I still
