In the last 4 years of doing real estate investing in lower income neighborhoods, there is an acceptance of things I once thought were unacceptable. However, you start to get used to some things that used to scare you in your thoughts, but with familiarity, doesnt scare you anymore.
Of course I always encourage everyone to be cautious and careful in ANY neighborhood, but the reality is that gang and drug activity, loud neighbors are things that don’t phase you anymore. You can go into those properties, see those things are going on, but the deathly fear slowly leaves you alone until you start seeing how you COULD live in these neighborhoods with all of its “drawbacks.” If im laughing during some of the stories im relating, its because enough time has passed so that Im over it.

Lol you are too funny I live in the hood so I know what you mean. I live in
Rochester NY.
During the summer, preteens act up in my neighborhood. But it’s just
loitering in big groups, getting loud, and playing their music loud at
times. Sometimes, but very rarely, they would insinuate fights amongst each
other. The block settles down once the cops make their presence known. So,
a deterrent every now and then is all that’s needed to keep the peace. The
best things you can do is mind your business and don’t hang out on the
block.
