Asheville has a lot of areas that have deteriorated since last we where there. Driving thru town it seemed depressing and did not feel safe. Biltmore yes Asheville right now no no no. Loved visiting Biltmore Estate and gardens. I would encourage visitors to tour the city with Gray Line Trolley. You can hop off and back on after seeing some highlights of the city.
Be sure to visit DuPont state park to see the waterfalls. Lots of restaurants!! A very walkable touristy town. Short drive to the crown jewel, the Biltmore. Not impressed at all by the restaurant Rhubarb.
The Noodle place was much better. Lots of bars pubs to choose from. Great hotel love staying here great employees always kind and helpful! Rooms are nice. Pet friendly. Also has a nice swimming pool. They do breakfast in the mornings. Definitely recommend this hotel to anyone! Asheville is full of great local restaurants, boutiques, and coffee shops. The people who work in those places are so friendly and the atmosphere of the town is relaxed, quirky, artsy and fun.
The best part is that you can walk everywhere and there are parking garages downtown. Art and creativity surround you like a warm fuzzy blanket. So many wonderful, beautiful, and unique places to visit and learn from in Asheville.
I plan to come back to visit the Biltmore, and spend more time in the fantastic downtown area. The Arboretum is a definite for a return trip. Gorgeous place. Getting around with a map is essential. It can be confusing otherwise. I would avoid being in the downtown area during a festival at that location. The crowds were too much for us, and parking was almost impossible. The host was always prompt in responding. The house is well appointed.
