World of Outlaws Event was a fun Dust Storm! This is an old time southern dirt track. It is steeped in history. It was a new experience for us transplanted Midwesterner’s.
Very interesting venue to view our first dirt race for us racing neophyte’s. The power exhibited by the cars on this day generated sheets of red dust. We left covered in the red mist. Instead of being put off by the covering of dirt, we actually felt the opposite. It was exhilarating and exciting to experience.
The stands were packed full over an hour before any activity on the track. We think it was more the draw of the Word of Outlaw cars rather than the typical venue attendance. The stands are concrete and no doubt uncomfortable.
We were seated just off the stands as we were there only an hour before the event. We found a concrete ledge on the front straight away to call our home for the events of the evening.
It was standing room only and people lined the fence so views were often times obstructed. However for the main event we stood on the seats and could see most of the activity on the track.
The parking lot was packed and very rough. Note that they do not take credit cards cash only-we had to go into town and use an ATM. Definitely bring face and eye covering for the more powerful cars. This is a great place to people watch. It was also a fun experience for our family. This is worthy of short trip to come spend an evening. Not sure we would drive much more than the couple hours we spent coming here, but a fun new experience for us to tout!
